Quick Cheese Grits

Quick Cheese Grits

Sometimes grits just hit the spot. If not serving immediately, reheat, and add milk to make creamy if needed.

For weight gain, don't use reduced-fat products.


  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups quick grits
  • 3 Tbsp margarine
  • 3 cups shredded reduced-fat Cheddar cheese
  • 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder


In a saucepan, bring the water, milk, and salt to a boil. Add grits, reduce heat, and cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add margarine, cheese, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Stir until margarine and cheese melts.
